Guardian Life Insurance just announced that its adding a comprehensive, high-deductible healthcare plan to its offering. The plan offers a triple tax-free health savings account and supplemental critical illness coverage, as well as 100 percent coverage for preventative health care.
"In today's challenging economy, it's more important than ever to employers--and employees--to rein in healthcare costs without sacrificing benefits or quality," said Tim Bireley, Vice President of Group Medical. "This plan provides mid-sized and smaller companies with access to a lower cost, comprehensive healthcare option without reducing benefits for employees."
A Guardian survey conducted late last year found over 80 percent of employees don't understand the features of an HSA. The same percentage said they would like "more control over decisions that influence the cost of health care" and that the price of health care should be "more transparent to help consumers make better decisions."
