What I've learned

  1. I am always amazed how many people start in our industry for the freedom and flexibility it offers, and eventually choose to take advantage of neither.
  2. A healthy ego is virtually demanded in a world where you hear no as often as you hear yes.
  3. Your people are valuable; your best people are invaluable.
  4. Problems grow in severity each hour they aren't responded to.
  5. The use of e-mail should be banned in any situation where emotion is involved.
  6. I have yet to encounter a business problem that more production couldn't ultimately fix.
  7. Fourth quarter always lasts twice as long as the other three.
  8. I'll quit the day earning a new client is no longer exciting.
  9. To a large degree, the business world is nothing more than everyone trying to get all their work done and home to their families at a decent hour.
  10. Things never turn out as bad as you think they might. I remind myself regularly of this with my favorite quote from Mark Twain?"I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened."
