Fiduciary responsibilities served up in DOL webcast

With looming and ever-evolving changes to the scope of fiduciary responsibilities, the DOL's Employee Benefits Security Administration is offering a free, two-day series of webcasts to help clarify responsibilities, timelines and correct disclosures.

"Getting It Right - Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities" will be available at this link on March 27 and 28, hitting the Internet at 2:30 p.m. EDT each day.

The sessions are designed to cover the basics on fiduciary responsibilities when operating a retirement plan, with a focus on small and medium-sized employers with limited access to professional benefits planning help.

March 27's session will feature DOL experts addressing the basic fiduciary responsibilities and prohibited transactions and exemptions under ERISA.

March 28's Webcast will focus on the reporting and disclosure provisions of ERISA and the DOL's voluntary correction program.
