I have been traveling and speaking at many conferences this past year and often attend seminars on PPACA.  The thing that perplexes me is how my colleagues who are spending thousands of dollars to attend these conferences are still bitching about it.  Get over it people… If you are still going to church and lighting a candle that it is going to be repealed, in my opinion, you are wasting time that could be better spent educating yourself and helping your clients.

When I’m faced with a challenge the first thing I ask myself is: “What would it look like if…?”  So let’s take a step back and do that:

What would it look like if…you took the time to get a designation and become an expert on PPACA?

What would it look like if…you partnered with a vendor in technology so that you could offer an enrollment platform like Zenefits to your clients?

What would it look like if…you partnered with an HR company to do the 1094 and 1095 filings for your clients?

What would it look like if…you partnered with a couple PEOs so you were showing that option to your clients instead of payroll companies?

What would it look like if…you looked at alternative review generators to enhance your business, like building out the consulting side of your practice or becoming P&C licensed?

What would it look like if…you partnered with financial planners to become sub-producers of your firm and put them on commission?

There are a lot of ways you can capitalize off of PPACA and turn that frown upside-down.  Is this what we envisioned our industry five years ago?  Absolutely not. But if you get creative and stop complaining, you can really spin some gold and take your business to the next level!

What are you doing to take advantage of a “bad” situation?
