How are your employees able to manage their benefits online?

"We have good dental, vision and health insurance plans. With our health insurance, you can go online to change your primary care physician, or you can use it to research and find specialists in a variety of fields, as well as other similar resources. The Web page can be customized based on your personal policy, and it will show you the basics and specifics of your plan, as well as some wellnessrelated research. The one thing you can't do is change from an HMO to a PPO or anything major like that." -- Christen R., account executive, Perception Inc., Gaithersburg, Md.

"Our company is very small. At this point, we don't even offer health insurance to our employees, let alone any dental or vision benefits, so there really isn't anything to manage. I do hope that we'll get to a place where we can provide those services to our employees, and it would be nice for them to be able to manage their own benefits via some sort of online technology." -- Terry R., owner, C. Arch Bay Co., St. Louis, Mo.

"We think it's important for our employees to have access to their plan information so they can be more
knowledgeable about their own care. We give them a packet that outlines their health, dental and vision plans, but they can also go to the health insurer's Web site to get information on what's covered under their plan, compare prescription drug costs, and find doctors. They can do the same thing with their vision and dental benefits." -- Judy G., payroll administrator, Burt-Kuni Honda, Centennial, Colo.
