Summer is the season for disabling accidents

The Hartford's research shows summer fun often leads to disabling accidents -- in fact more disabling accidents occur in the summer than any other time of year.

Highest percentages of disability claims by age and gender

  • Men: 40 to 44
  • Women: 50 to 54

Most commen injuries for women:

  • Fractures of the lower limb
  • Sprained necks and backs
  • Dislocated knees

Most commen injuries for men:

  • Open wounds
  • Internal injuries
  • Sprained shoulders, legs, knees and arms
  • Fractured skulls, necks and backs

Fractures were the main reason for accident-related claims for both men and women.
