The Hartford recently announced it is teaming up with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to launch the LIVESTRONG Wellness Protection Plan. The guaranteed-issue benefit will donate a percentage of each policy's premium to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The plan includes an annual benefit that covers one of 12 annual cancer screenings; a first occurrence benefit to cover any indirect costs associated with treatment and recovery; a hospital benefit to cover costs incurred during a hospital stay; and a recurrence benefit if a cancer recurs after five years.
"When you're living with, through and beyond cancer, we believe you shouldn't have to choose between emptying a retirement nest egg or college fund - and the life-saving care you need," Ron Gendreau, executive vice president of The Hartford's Group Benefits Division said in a press release.
The plan is available to consumers through The Hartford's association/affinity business which provides coverage to members of associations, organizations and affinity groups, such as financial institutions.
