Despite what many think, doctors aren't getting paid enough. At least that's what doctors say.
An annual survey from Medscape finds half (49 percent) of doctors believe they're not fairly compensated. That number is higher for primary care physicians—54 percent of them say they aren't earning enough.
Most of the nearly 25,000 physicians say they aren't "rich" because of their high expenses and student debts. In 2011, compensation self-reported by surveyed physicians ranged from an average of $156,000 for pediatricians to $315,000 for radiologists and orthopedic surgeons.
