Many jobs within the information technology and creative fields are expected to be in high demand in 2013, according to the 2013 Salary Guides from Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group.
"Companies seek individuals who can help with key growth initiatives, such as improving the firm's Web and social media presence, gathering and analyzing business data, and optimizing a customer's online experience," says Lara Dodo, regional vice president of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group. "Many of these positions are quite challenging for employers to fill, and in some cases, the supply of qualified professionals is lower than the demand."
The following are descriptions the six hot technology and creative jobs for 2013:

Network engineers – With a need for more wireless and wired networks with high bandwidth, employers are looking for network engineers. This position requires someone who can engineer the integration of cloud computing with other technologies and also manage secure transfers of data to various locations through internal and external networks. Network engineers can expect to start making an average of $79,500 to $104,250.
Mobile applications developers – More companies are trying to reach consumers on smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, but they need mobile applications developers to make this a reality. The average starting salary for this position is between $79,000 and $112,000.
Business intelligence analysts – In this position, a business intelligence analyst helps an organization make important business decisions by analyzing data to improve marketing. A business analyst can expect an average starting salary of $76,000 to $105,750.
Web designers – Employers need Web designers to enhance their online presence. Web designers should have front- and back-end development skills as well as experience overseeing interactive websites and social media networks. For Web designers with at least five years of experience, they can expect to make an average of $75,000 to $120,000.
SEO and SEM specialists – SEO and SEM specialists search engine optimization and search engine marketing strategies and tactics. Additionally, the analyze website traffic and create website assessments and recommendations. With at least three years of experience, SEO and SEM specialists make an average of $75,000 to $95,000.
User experience specialists – As more customer interaction happens online, employers are looking for UX specialists to create positive digital experiences. On average, UX specialists make starting salaries between $65,000 and $115,000.
