Former CMS chief Marilyn Tavenner, who helped oversee the difficult implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, will now lead the nation's most prevalent health insurance lobbying group.

America's Health Insurance Plans on Wednesday named Tavenner, who resigned as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services earlier this year, as the group's next president and CEO. AHIP's board of directors unanimously elected the former Obamacare official.

She will take over the position August 24.
