(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Treasury and Internal Revenue Servicesaid they are extending some Patient Protection and Affordable CareAct reporting deadlines to help companies meet therequirements.

Employers will have two more months past Feb. 1 to giveindividuals forms for reporting on offers of health coverage and the coverageprovided.

The deadlines to report this information to the IRS are extendedby three months past the previous Feb. 29 due date for paperfilings and the March 31 date for electronic returns, the Treasurysaid in a statement Monday.

“The vast majority of individual taxpayers will not be affectedby this extension,” Treasury said. “Like last tax filing season,most individuals will simply check a box on their tax returnindicating they had health coverage for the entire year.”

The Obama administration has repeatedly extended deadlines forimplementation and insurance enrollment under PPACA, sometimes drawing criticismfrom opponents.

Last year, Republicans sued the administration, saying thepresident exceeded his authority by delaying a requirementthat most employers provide insurance to workers.

President Barack Obama said in 2013 that employers wouldn’t haveto comply with the requirement until 2015. Then in 2014 Obamafurther delayed the rule until 2016 for companies with fewer than100 workers.

A federal judge in Washington declined in September to dismissthe lawsuit.

Earlier this month, the deadline for sign-ups on HealthCare.govwas extended by two days because of high volume. In 2014, theadministration gave people two extra weeks to sign up for coveragebecause of concerns that technical problems might have preventedpeople from enrolling.
