After the House voted to pass the Republican health care planwhich will replace the Affordable Care Act, PresidentDonald Trump’s approval rating dropped to its lowest level in twomonths.

Of registered voters polled right after the House approval ofthe health care plan, 44 percent of voters say theyapprove of Trump’s performance as president and 48 percentdisapprove.

This poll comes from Politico and MorningConsult. The 44 percent approval rating is a drop from 51 percenton April 20.

This is the second time the health care replacement law affectedTrump’s approval rating. When the House initially decided topostpone a vote and pulled the bill from a vote, Trump’s approvalrating dropped 10 points.

For those who specifically find health care to be the most important politicalissue, these recent actions from Congress swayed their view of thepresident.

The Morning Consult/Politico poll found that in the group ofvoters who say health care was the most important issue when votingfor president in November, 49 percent disapprove of Trump, andincrease from 37 percent in an earlier survey. This sentiment isalso true among those who approve of Trump and also value thehealth care issue; the number of people who support the presidentdropped from 39 percent to 32 percent.

The poll also asked voters about their views on Congress inlight of the health care bill vote. After the House voted 217-213to approve the GOP backed health care law replacement, Americanstrust in Republicans to come up with a health care solutiondipped.

Thirty-six percent of those polled say they trust Republicans tocome up with a solid law, compared to the 45 percent of people whosay they trust Democrats.

All of this is important as members of Congress gear up for the2018 midterm elections. Morning Consult and Politico asked votershow the passage of this law would affect their vote.

Thirty-seven percent of voters say they would be less likely tovote for their representative or senator if he/she voted for theAHCA. Only 24 percent of voters say a vote for the new health carelaw would make them likely to vote for that candidate.
