Three years, two elections, and one Supreme Court decision after President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act, its promise of health care for the uninsured may be delayed or undercut in much of the country because of entrenched opposition from many Republican state leaders.
It's one part of the new health care law that seemed clear: free coverage for preventive care under most insurance plans. Only it didn't turn out that way.
Citing financial concerns, the Obama administration has begun quietly winding down one of the earliest programs created by the president's health care overhaul, a plan that helps people with medical problems who can't get private insurance.
President Barack Obama's health care overhaul is unfolding as a national experiment with American consumers as the guinea pigs: Who will do a better job getting uninsured people covered, the states or the feds?
The Obama administration on Friday proposed a work-around for religious nonprofits that object to providing health insurance that covers birth control.
Some families could get priced out of health insurance due to what's being called a glitch in President Barack Obama's overhaul law. IRS regulations issued Wednesday failed to fix the problem as liberal backers of the president's plan had hoped.
This is the first story in a two-part series that provides an overview of the major changes in health insurance facing Americans under the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
