After reviewing assembly and senate bills, Compliance Poster Company's legal research team found the state of California is releasing up to four mandatory-to-post labor law changes that must be displayed in the workplace for employees to see.
As part of the new changes, employers must display the Discrimination and Harassment in Employment are Prohibited by Law poster, Notice A Pregnancy Disability Leave poster, and Notice B Family Care and Medical Leave (CFRA Leave) and Pregnancy Disability Leave poster.
The California Discrimination notice is to include a mandatory change that adds gender, gender identity and gender expression to the list of protected. This is effective beginning Jan. 1, 2012.
Based on the revised requirement for the California Pregnancy Disability Leave Notice A poster, the notice as of Jan. 1, 2012, must state: "The FEHA prohibits us from denying, interfering with, or restraining your exercise of these rights. If we currently provide and pay for your coverage under a group health plan, we must continue to do so while you are on PDL. If we do not already provide health insurance, we are not required to begin doing so when you take PDL."
The California Leave Notice B, which must also be posted by Jan. 1, 2012, has been modified to state: "The CFRA prohibits us from denying, interfering with, or restraining your exercise of these rights."
A possible fourth revision could be enacted because of major legislative changes to the mandatory employee notification of California's workers' compensation laws. Compliance Poster Company anticipates this to be forthcoming in required notice updates.
