WATERTOWN, Mass. (AP) — Medical billing and records software maker athenahealth Inc. is buying Healthcare Data Services, a health care data analysis company, to expand its services for health care providers.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Athenahealth says that the acquisition would help it support customers dealing with new reimbursement systems offered by health insurers and the U.S. government's health care programs.
The buyout is expected to close in October.
Healthcare Data Services is based in Boston, while athenahealth is based in Watertown, Mass.
Shares of athenahealth Inc. rose 35 cents to $91.61 in morning trading on Thursday.
