Health insurance: after compensation, it's an employer's biggest expense. And as companies look for ways to take more control over health care spending, many, especially larger employers, have turned to self-funding or level-funding arrangements.

So how prevalent are self-funded and level-funded health care plans? The Department of Labor recently issued its Annual Report on Self-Insured Group Health Plans, utilizing data from Form 5500 filings for 2017 and 2018. Take a look at the infographic below to explore the findings.
