Think about the last time you felt you were not treated fairly. Were you excluded from a specific event invite with no explanationor did you have an important contribution/idea to add and wereshut down or not encouraged to speak out?

Or maybe you weren't “invited or included” to an event or to bein a special group you thought you aligned withperfectly?

Sometimes we never know the reasons, however it is certain thatfeeling we have been treated “unfairly” cause great anger and anxiety and derail (hopefullyonly temporarily) calm thoughtful pursuit of our goals.

The reason I bring this up is that I have observed when youtreat others fairly two things happen. Your employees notice andrespect you for it. Your reputation for fair play reinforces theirbelief in you and the company's mission. Second, the people who youtreat fairly will respond in kind.

If employees feel they are treated fairly they will be morewilling to “create and take risks” which in turn leads to betterbusiness performance.

If vendors selling products in your space feel they received a“fair hearing” to present their solutions they will speakpositively about you.

It is proven that companies who are dedicated to and promotea culture of “fairness” and “doing the rightthing” have less turnover and higher rates ofproductivity.

Put a money tree in the office surrounded by your team membersand see if it thrives……It may be because fairness abounds in theenvironment so employees focus on doing the work rather thannegative emotions about the place they have chosen to beemployed!
