In its next move following OpenAI’s recent introduction of ChatGPT Health earlier this month, the company has acquired Torch Health — which built a platform to consolidate patient health records. CNBC.com reports that the purchase price was “roughly $60 million, according to a source familiar with the deal who asked not to be named because the details are confidential.”

OpenAI made the announcement on X, while Torch posted the news on its homepage.

“We started Torch to build a medical memory for AI, unifying scattered records into a context engine that helps you see the full picture, connect the dots, and make sure nothing important gets lost in the noise again,” the message on its homepage states. “Now, we’re joining OpenAI to realize that vision at a bigger scale than we could have ever achieved on our own.”

Reports indicate that Torch’s employees will join OpenAI.

On January, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Health will allow users to securely connect their medical records and wellness apps to an AI chatbot. OpenAI also recently introduced OpenAI for Healthcare, which features a set of products designed to help healthcare organizations deliver more consistent, high-quality care for patients.
