For the first time in decades, we're staring at a wide-open slate of candidates for president. There is no incumbent, no heir apparent, no clear-cut front-runner – from either party.

Now, whether because of that or in spite of it, health care appears to be getting more press (and pulpit) time than in years past.

And while many bemoan this debate – whether it's over access or funding – we need to seize this 15 minutes as an opportunity to make sure our voices our heard above the fray. The mainstream press and pandering politicians throw out numbers with no basis in fact and solutions with no basis in reality. And the people who do the work are ignored, patronized or pilloried.
