A new Revere America survey shows that 63% of those polled are concerned that the Affordable Care Act of 2010's mandate to buy health insurance is a direct threat to their freedom. The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, showed that individuals were concerned about federal government's power to force them to buy health insurance they may not want.

The poll also found that a majority of voters would reveal the part of the law requiring most individuals to have and/or purchase their own health insurance, or to pay a penalty if they don't do so.

"The essence of [the law] is the raw power it gives the federal government to dictate to individuals that they must buy a product they may not want or be punished for not doing so," remarked Marianne R.P. Zuk, president and CEO of Revere America, in a prepared statement. "It also dictates to states how they must spend the tax revenues they collect from their citizens. This is a threat to liberty that the public senses and dislikes."
