AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A spokeswoman says Maine Gov. Paul LePage is "encouraged" by $6.1 billion budget that emerged from the Legislature's Appropriations Committee.

Lawmakers reached the compromise late Thursday. LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett said Friday the governor hadn't reviewed the details, but said the budget is encouraging at first blush.

The bipartisan budget, adopted on a 13-0 vote, will go to the full Legislature early next week.
