As Congress and the president continue to battle on debt ceiling, the majority of young Hispanics say they prefer spending cuts over raising new taxes to get the economy on track, a new poll suggests.
According to Generation Opportunity, Hispanics ages 18-29 say they want to see less government interference, lower taxes on business profits and reduced federal spending in general.
Nearly 70 percent say they prefer reducing federal spending to raising individual taxes in order to balance the federal budget. The majority believe that if taxes on business profits were reduced, companies would be more likely to hire. A 56 percent majority also agreed “the economy grows best when individuals are allowed to create businesses without government interference.”
