LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Insurer Humana Inc. said Wednesday it acquired health data analyzer Anvita Health to strengthen its clinical management. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Humana, based in Louisville, Ky., said it has been working with Anvita since last year. It uses the company's Anvita Insight engine to identify member gaps in care and drug-safety concerns.

Anvita, based in San Diego, provides clinical analytics for health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, personal and electronic health record companies and care providers. The company can "transform enormous volumes of clinical data into actionable intelligence," Humana said in a statement.
