Single, childless women in their 20s are more likely than men of the same demographic to graduate from college, suggesting women could be a large talent source in the future, finds a study by Inforum, a network for professional women, and Sphere Trending, a consulting and forecasting firm based in Waterford, Mich.
Women are coming out of this recession successfully as they continue to make advances in education, earning power and new business formation, the survey finds. Women with "personal businesses," which have no employees, are also growing in number, especially as more people are working remotely.
Generation X workers also are finding success in the corporate environment, the study shows, but as they advance, many are feeling over-worked and stressed from balancing their home and work lives.

The survey also examines work place technology and finds mobile devices are reported as the most critical piece technology in the lives of Americans, with social media playing an increasingly significant role in staying connected.
"This report reinforces a message Inforum has been sending for years: The successful organizations of the future will be woman-friendly, technologically savvy and willing to embrace a lot of change very fast," says Terry Barclay, president and CEO of Inforum. "Employers who hold on to a 20th-century mindset will not be able to keep up in a world where the work force is increasingly dominated by educated young women who have technology and know how to use it."
