Sixty-two percent of workers want the opportunity to telecommute while 83 percent of workers believe telecommuting is becoming more popular, according to a survey by TeamViewer, a provider of remote control and online meetings software, and Harris Interactive.
They survey also shows that 53 percent of respondents say smartphones and tablets are increasing the use of telecommuting, and 49 percent of respondents report that telecommuting is becoming easier. Another 30 percent of respondents say telecommuting is now more prevalent in small businesses.
Regarding behavior as a telecommuter as opposed to an in-office worker, 54 percent of respondents say they would be at least somewhat more productive. Thirty-two percent of respondents say they would even be more or much more productive telecommuting.

They survey even shows that respondents would be willing to give up certain items to telecommute. Those items include social media at 34 percent, texting at 30 percent, chocolate at 29 percent, smartphones at 25 percent, shopping at 20 percent, higher salaries at 17 percent and fewer vacation days at 15 percent.
