Among the 162 companies surveyed in central Florida, there are more than 11,500 job available, according to the Central Florida Employment Outlook Survey for 2012 conducted by Orlandojobs.com.

This marks the most encouraging results in the four years that OrlandoJobs.com has organized its bi-annual employer survey. The survey also finds that more than 16,000 jobs are projected to become available in the last three-quarters of 2012, and 37 percent of respondents expect hiring to improve this year in comparison to 2011.

Another 44 percent of respondents are employing temporary employees to help fill available positions. The top six sectors that are hiring in central Florida include hospitality, professional and business services, health care, education, banking and finance and technology.

"Central Florida is poised at a tipping point when it comes to the employment market," says Roger Lear, president and co-founder of OrlandoJobs.com. "The sheer number of open jobs, currently and forecasted throughout 2012, would put a huge dent in Orlando's MSA unemployment rate of 9.5 percent if all were filled. With the heavyweight of the hospitality sector leading the way, central Florida may soon be able to tip the scales in the right direction on behalf of the entire state."

Along with the jobs findings, the survey reveals that the role social media is playing in employment. Only 19 percent of respondents report using social media to find job candidates, but for those that did, 57 of those hires came through LinkedIn, and only two hires came through Facebook. No respondents report hiring job candidates through Twitter.
