A survey conducted by Yahoo! And FITNESS Magazine polled 2,000 men and women to see how they spend and save their money. It found that 40 percent of women have just enough cash to cover their monthly bills and nothing else. Thirty-eight percent of men and women polled said they have enough to pay bills, but no cushion. Twenty-nine percent said they had enough money for emergencies. Thirteen percent said they were stretched thin and behind on bills and 9 percent said they were up to their ears in debt.

The survey also found that 49 percent of adults say they share control of their finances with their significant others, but 41 percent said they have sole control. Men and women did agree that money is the No. 1 source of couples fighting (26 percent), followed by chores, kids, sex and in-laws. Fifty-five percent of adults said they are a combination of frugal and spendthrift in their relationships. Twenty-nine percent admitted to being frugal and 16 percent said they were the spender.

The full results of the survey will be published in the April 2012 issue of FITNESS magazine and online at Yahoo! Finance.
