INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Health insurer WellPoint's earning sank last year, and the pay package Chairwoman and CEO Angela Braly received slipped as well.
The 50-year-old executive saw her total compensation fall about 2 percent to $13.2 million last year. Braly received a $1.1 million salary, a performance-related bonus totaling nearly $2 million and more than $10 million in stock and option awards.
The Indianapolis insurer's earnings fell 8 percent last year to $2.65 billion as the company took a $150 million hit from its Medicare Advantage business. But the news wasn't all bad. The insurer also unveiled a quarterly dividend last year and its stock price grew 17 percent in 2011.
