Less than 40 percent of employers agree that veterans or those with prior military experience are prepared for a career transition out of the military, according to a new survey from Monster.com.

The online job finder released its biannual Veterans Talent Index on Wednesday. The report is a snapshot of the current veteran hiring landscape.

Veterans likely to look for a job in the next 12 months is up from 69 percent in the prior report, released last November. Additionally, the percentage of employers believing veterans are ready to work again dropped significantly from the previous report, in which 77 percent agreed veterans are ready to transition.
