The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company has announced that Jonathan Corteen, co-founder and president, and Jonathan Rotter, co-founder and executive vice president of The Heartland Group, Penn Mutual's career agency in Chicago, have received the General Agents' and Managers' Association (GAMA) International Management Award at the Gold level. Russell R. Hartig, vice president of The Heartland Group, received the GAMA Frontline Award at the Silver level.
Dedicated to promoting the professional development of managers in the insurance and financial services profession, GAMA recognizes the success of leaders or first-line managers of an agency or firm through its International Management Awards. This award acknowledges outstanding managers whose excellent leadership is demonstrated by the performance of the eight or more full-time agents, advisors or sales representatives under their supervision.
Corteen was previously honored for his accomplishments at Penn Mutual with the 2011 and 2010 Award of Excellence for the Career Agency System. Prior to joining Penn Mutual, Corteen worked as a financial advisor at two nationally known financial services companies, during which he was recognized as a proven producer and built a top-five sales organization that won many conference and campaign awards.

Since joining Penn Mutual in 2008, Rotter is responsible for recruiting, training and developing financial professionals. Since then, Rotter has been honored with the 2011 and 2010 CAS Award of Excellence and the 2011 $2 Million Plus Life and Annuity Premium Growth Award. Prior to joining the company, Rotter began his career as a producer and supervisor with another leading insurance company, where he ranked number one locally and number five nationally among his peers. As a junior partner, Rotter helped build one of the top sales organizations and was responsible for managing over 25 financial professionals.
Since joining Penn Mutual in 2008, Hartig is dedicated to selecting, developing and mentoring future financial advisors. As he took on his new role, Hartig has been awarded with Penn Mutual's 2010 Sales Manager Development Award for his accomplishments. Before joining Penn Mutual, Hartig worked as a supervisor and financial advisor at a national financial services company where he developed the skills and abilities to work with other advisors.
