COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The chairman of an Ohio House panel has scheduled a string of hearings next month on the fiscal health of the state's five public retirement funds.

State Rep. Kirk Schuring says the goal is to have the House vote on pension legislation sometime in September.

The state Senate has passed a package of bills aimed at shoring up the funds, but House leaders delayed acting on the measures as they awaited a study released earlier in July.
