CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Insurance company Unum Group said Thursday that it elected Timothy Keaney to its board.
Keaney is vice chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon Corp. and chief executive of its asset servicing division. He also serves on the bank's executive committee, which oversees that company's day-to-day operations.
Before Bank of New York Co. bought Mellon Financial Corp. in 2007, Keaney was head of Bank of New York's asset servicing business and its presence in Europe. He joined that bank in 2000 as a managing director.

Shares of Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Unum rose 17 cents to $19.61 in afternoon trading.
