ING U.S.’s Retirement business made several personnelappointments to support the company’s small-mid corporateretirement plans market.

Jeff Darnowski joined ING U.S. Retirement as a clientrelationship manager. Based in New York, Darnowski is responsiblefor ongoing plan sponsor relationship management and servicedelivery for ING U.S.’s existing 401(k) retirement plan sponsorslocated in metro New York. He most recently managed theInternational Benefits area at AIG. Prior to that, he was directorof Retirement Operations at Lord Abbet & Company where he wasresponsible for client service delivery in the company’s smallmarket 401(k) program. He also held several client servicepositions in the Retirement Group at Merrill Lynch.

Thomas Fleming was promoted to regional vice presidentof sales. Based in New York City, Fleming is responsible forthe sales and distribution of 401(k) retirement plans to thewirehouse channel in metro New York, Long Island and northern NewJersey. Fleming has been with ING U.S. for over 12 years working invarious sales and service roles, most recently as head of InsideSales where he managed the internal sales desk for small-midcorporate retirement plans.

Susan Shapiro, currently regional vice president of servicein the New Jersey region, has taken on the addedresponsibility of becoming the regional vice president ofservice for the expanded New York City/New Jersey region. In herexpanded role, she is responsible for leading the service teams forboth the New Jersey and New York City territories.

Shapiro and Fleming took on their new roles earlier this summerand report to Patrick Bello, senior vice president of sales for thenortheast. Darnowski, hired in August, reports to Shapiro.
