Employers expect to hire more employees during the fourth quarter for commercial and administrative jobs, according to a recent hiring trends survey conducted by Express Employment Professionals, a privately held staffing company.

In fact, 32 percent of respondents say they plan to expand their staff with commercial and light industrial jobs while 14 percent of respondents say they are to hire for administrative and office clerical positions.

"With the unemployment rate at its lowest since January 2009 and employers planning to hire even more staff, we're off to a good start for the fourth quarter for job seekers," says Bob Funk, Express CEO and board chair.

Of the strongest regions planning to hire for administrative and office clerical staff are the South, Central and West. Meanwhile, the region that is expecting to make hires for accounting and finance is the East Central while the Northeast has the highest demand in the survey's "other" sector, which includes customer service, general labor, maintenance, retail and sales.

Respondents say a job prospect's work ethic and integrity are the top characteristics when it comes to making a hiring decision. In an earlier survey, respondents had agreed that job experience and attitude were the most important factors for employers. More than 50 percent of respondents also say they continue to have trouble recruiting and filling positions.
