Nearly half of recruiters (48.6 percent) are on pace to surpass their personal billings from 2011, according to a recent poll conducted by Top Echelon Network, a network of highly specialized search firms.
The poll also finds that 18.6 percent of respondents report that while they are not on track to exceed billings, they are on schedule to match them. Another 28.6 percent of respondents say they are not on pace to meet last year's billings, and 1.4 percent of respondents are unsure.
Top Echelon Network maintains that how much success recruiting firms experience is typically indicative of the willingness of companies to bring in more employees while companies' inclination to hire often hinges on the overall economy. Thus, when recruiters are more successful, it could be a sign of an improving economy.

Drea Codispoti, CPC/CERS, membership development coordinator of Top Echelon Network says these poll results represent the greater activity level experienced respondents, despite their recruiting sectors.
"To have nearly half of the recruiters in this poll confident that they will exceed their personal billings of a year ago is good news," Codispoti says. "While it's true that the past few years have been down ones for the economy overall and for recruiting firms, that trend appears to have reversed itself. Billings and revenue for recruiters are improving, and there's a good chance that improvement will continue into 2013."
