The ERISA Advisory Council has five new members.

"The ERISA Advisory Council is integral to the department's work in enhancing and preserving the health and retirement benefits of America's workers," said Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis. "The exceptional professionals joining the 2013 council are uniquely qualified to help it accomplish its goals. Their expertise will be a valuable complement to the department's mission to protect workers' benefits."

The 15-member Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans provides advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. By law, members of the council serve for staggered three-year terms. Three members are representatives of employee organizations (at least one of whom represents an organization whose members are participants in a multiemployer plan).
