The Bureau of Labor Statistics says 2.2 million Americans quit their jobs in its Jobs Openings and Labor Turnover Summary, which is a sign that workers have more confidence in the economy, EmploymentCrossing maintains.

EmploymentCrossing states that this is a major increase in the number of Americans voluntarily leaving their jobs since the recession's height in June 2009 when only 1.8 million Americans voluntarily left their jobs. The amount of workers who quit their jobs remained virtually unchanged in 2012, according to the BLS.

"An increasing number of Americans are not going to quit their jobs unless they have another one lined up or are sure of getting another job soon," says Harrison Barnes, CEO of EmploymentCrossing, which has found 2.28 million job openings throughout the country.
