NEW YORK (AP) — GE's health care business will invest $2 billion in software development over the next five years.

GE Healthcare said Tuesday that it wants to improve the management of hospital operations, increase clinical effectiveness and optimize care.

Shares of General Electric Co. lost 19 cents to $23.59 in midday trading.
