A business consultancy and two social media firms found themselves at the top of the latest Glassdoor list of best places to work, for reasons that should make any HR manager swoon and bottom-line obsessed CFO happy, too.

As it turns out, Bain & Co, Twitter and LinkedIn are all great places to work, according to their employees, because they offer challenging work, an opportunity to work with highly talented folks and the chance to change the world.

In other words, compensation wasn't all that people cared about and certainly not enough to win any company a spot on Glassdoor's 2014 Employees' Choice Awards.
