Traditionally, consumers in, well, traditionalplans tend to be way more satisfied with their health plan thanothers with less traditional plans, such as a high-deductiblehealth plan or a consumer-driven health plan. Though traditionalhealth plan holders still remain happiest with their plan, with theboom in consumer-driven health plans, that satisfaction gap is nownarrowing.

So says the Employee Benefit Research Institute, which foundthat the overall satisfaction rate among CDHP enrollees isgradually increasing, while it is gradually decreasing amongtraditional enrollees.

In 2013, 44 percent of traditional-plan participants wereextremely or very satisfied with out-of-pocket costs (for healthcare services other than for prescription drugs), while 31 percentof CDHP participants were extremely or very satisfied. Satisfactionhas been trending upward among CDHP enrollees in recent years, EBRIsaid in a research brief.
