As Republicans step up their assault on Social Security and Medicare plans, seniors who care about such matters are feeling increasing heart throbs for the loyal opposition.

A survey by pollster Morning Consult found that, among seniors following the debate and view it as their top issue, vastly favor the Democratic agenda around the issues.

Among the No. 1 issue group—a block that is no doubt planning to vote—less than 20 percent said they trusted the GOP more than the Democrats on the issue. Just under half (47 percent) said they placed their trust in the position on Social Security and Medicare taken by the Democrats.
