It's a busy life.

But one day last year, Contorno's doctor told him it was time toadd yet another responsibility: his health. At the time, Contornoweighed 300 pounds. As a result, his blood sugar readings were veryhigh — high enough to be in the range for a diabetes diagnosis.

That's when he knew he had to commit to a new lifestyle.Contorno began a low-carb diet and started clocking hours at thegym. He found time to hike the local trails near his North Carolinahome.

Much like his business, Lake Norman Benefits, Contorno foundsuccess. He's now down to 180 pounds and the signs of diabetes haveabated.

“I had a bit of a health issue that jumpstarted the weight loss,” Contorno says. “It's been a yearnow where I’ve been making better decisions on what I eat and alsoworking out.”

To show how dedicated he is, Contorno recently flew to New Yorkin the morning but missed his flight back home later that day anddidn't arrive home until well after midnight.

He was in the gym the next morning at 6 a.m.
