|But one day last year, Contorno's doctor told him it was time toadd yet another responsibility: his health. At the time, Contornoweighed 300 pounds. As a result, his blood sugar readings were veryhigh — high enough to be in the range for a diabetes diagnosis.
|That's when he knew he had to commit to a new lifestyle.Contorno began a low-carb diet and started clocking hours at thegym. He found time to hike the local trails near his North Carolinahome.
||Much like his business, Lake Norman Benefits, Contorno foundsuccess. He's now down to 180 pounds and the signs of diabetes haveabated.
|“I had a bit of a health issue that jumpstarted the weight loss,” Contorno says. “It's been a yearnow where I’ve been making better decisions on what I eat and alsoworking out.”
|To show how dedicated he is, Contorno recently flew to New Yorkin the morning but missed his flight back home later that day anddidn't arrive home until well after midnight.
