(Bloomberg) -- The first locally transmitted case of Zika virus in the continental U.S. was confirmed in Dallas on Tuesday.

A patient became infected after having sexual contact with a sick person who had returned from an area with an outbreak of the virus, the Dallas County Health and Human Services department said in a statement.
