Polls show Democrats may be on the verge of voting againstAmendment 69, a ballot measure that could setup a universal, government-run health coverage system inColorado.

If Democrats in the state join Republicans in opposing Amendment69, that could weaken efforts by Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont, and hissupporters to move the national party further to the left on healthfinance issues and other issues.

Colorado Mesa University and the Center for Opinion Research atFranklin & Marshall College have reported, based ona survey of 540 Colorado registered votersconducted in mid-September, that 44 percent of likely Coloradovoters intend to vote for Hillary Clinton for president. Only 30percent said they strongly or somewhat favor Amendment 69.
