A group of actuaries is urging House leaders to think carefullybefore they try to change the current Affordable Care Actsystem.

Shari Westerfield, the vice president of theHealth Practice Council at the Washington-based American Academy ofActuaries, has written to House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and toRep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the minority leader, to say thatsimply repealing the ACA, or canceling major provisions withoutmaking other adjustments, could make problems in the individualmajor medical insurance market worse.
