Here are a few things to do while you’re in Indy.

  1. Visit the Indianapolis Zoo
    Nestled in the White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo is hometo 350 species of animals and is ranked in the Top 10 of best zoosnationally. Don’t miss the International Orangutan Center, whichfeatures a one-of-a-kind view.

  2. Check out the monuments and memorials
    Outside of Washington, D.C., Indianapolis has more monuments and memorials than any other city. To name just afew: Soldiers and Sailors Monument and Memorial, University Park,and the USS Indianapolis Memorial.

  3. Catch a game
    Indianapolis’ Victory Field has been pegged as the best minorleague ballpark in the country by Sports Illustrated (and the IndyIndians will be at home on April 11and 12!). More of a basketballfan? The Pacers also play at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on April12.

  4. Relax on the Central Canal
    Take a gondola ride along the White River State park’s CentralCanal while taking in public art, war memorials, and urbangreenery. Venetian travel not your style? Explore the area on acruiser, Segway, or on foot and stop in to any of the many nearbymuseums and cafes.

  5. Get a taste of old-world style
    St. Elmo Steak House is an award-winning restaurant with a menuthat is reminiscent of the early 1930s with a décor to match.

  6. Get retro with an arcade game
    Grab a beer at Indianapolis’ free-play arcade bar, Tappers, chockfull of your 80s favorites. Centipede, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Pong,Space Invaders? Yeah, they got that, and more.

  7. Hear some live music
    Well-known local piano wizard Gregory Baranovsky opened Gregory’sRussian Restaurant when he couldn’t find himself a regular gig. Notonly can you catch performances from folk acts to Broadway songs,but you can also get a taste of the native’s Belarus and EasternEurope roots with potato pancakes and borscht.

  8. Steer yourself to the Steer-Inn
    It’s an Indianapolis favorite and staple, home to the signaturepork tenderloin sandwich that’s been immortalized thanks to TVshows like Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. The greasy spoon offers a hugemenu, so no one will leave hungry.

  9. Get ready for the Indy 500
    Indianapolis is largely known for its world-renowned IndianapolisMotor Speedway, home to the Indy 500 (it’s May 28 this year). Thespeedway is also home to the Hall of Fame Museum where you canlearn about some of the greats who have circled the racetrack.

  10. Get even more ready for the Indy 500
    Do you have the need for speed? Sign up for the Indy RacingExperience, where you can be a passenger in a car driven by an IndyRacing League Driver, or drive yourself in a car the competed in anactual Indy 500 race.
