After the House voted to pass the Republican health care plan which will replace the Affordable Care Act, President Donald Trump’s approval rating dropped to its lowest level in two months.

Of registered voters polled right after the House approval of the health care plan, 44 percent of voters say they approve of Trump’s performance as president and 48 percent disapprove.

This poll comes from Politico and Morning Consult. The 44 percent approval rating is a drop from 51 percent on April 20.

This is the second time the health care replacement law affected Trump’s approval rating. When the House initially decided to postpone a vote and pulled the bill from a vote, Trump’s approval rating dropped 10 points.

For those who specifically find health care to be the most important political issue, these recent actions from Congress swayed their view of the president.

The Morning Consult/Politico poll found that in the group of voters who say health care was the most important issue when voting for president in November, 49 percent disapprove of Trump, and increase from 37 percent in an earlier survey. This sentiment is also true among those who approve of Trump and also value the health care issue; the number of people who support the president dropped from 39 percent to 32 percent.

The poll also asked voters about their views on Congress in light of the health care bill vote. After the House voted 217-213 to approve the GOP backed health care law replacement, Americans trust in Republicans to come up with a health care solution dipped.

Thirty-six percent of those polled say they trust Republicans to come up with a solid law, compared to the 45 percent of people who say they trust Democrats.

All of this is important as members of Congress gear up for the 2018 midterm elections. Morning Consult and Politico asked voters how the passage of this law would affect their vote.

Thirty-seven percent of voters say they would be less likely to vote for their representative or senator if he/she voted for the AHCA. Only 24 percent of voters say a vote for the new health care law would make them likely to vote for that candidate.
