It's certainly not a case of the younger generation looking to their elders for mentoring and advancement. 

According to a report from Maryland-based market research and analysis firm EurekaFacts, millennials think that, if anything, boomer and GenX managers are keeping them from advancing at work. 

The study "Millennial Work Engagement: An Unmet Desire" looks at millennials' opinions and attitudes on work-related issues, one of which is that they are not being supported by GenXers and boomers in the workplace.
