Moms and dads particularly like working at the companies that made the list of Great Place to Work and Fortune’s 2017 Best Workplaces for Parents – companies with excellent health care and compensation packages, and killer perks and programs, including those particularly desired by parents, such as paid family leave and onsite child care.

Great Place to Work also dug deeper into more than 440,000 employee surveys for all participating companies, to see how workers with children feel about their company – and their careers – compared to those who do not have kids.

Surprisingly (or not) – survey responses revealed that mothers and fathers are more committed to their work than non-parents. Co-workers with children at home were more likely to plan a long-term future with their employers, feel their jobs make an impact and find their work meaningful. Parents also reported more frequent concerns about office politics and the fairness of promotions. Despite its prominence in programs aimed at parents, work-life balance ranked in the lowest quartile of retention factors for employees with children.
