By and large, medical professionals account for the top earners in each state. Here's a sample of the 10 highest-paying jobs and the corresponding state.
Some of the most lucrative jobs are in the medical field, but salaries do vary by state, according to the career website Zippia. The particular jobs that are being paid more vary widely depending on a number of factors, including the current year's events, recent technological developments and economic factors like recessions, says Zippia's Chris Kolmar, who compiled a list of the jobs in each state that had the highest annual salaries based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. "It looks like square states—and the Midwest states in general—are the places to be for many of these white collar positions," Kolmar says. Check out the top 10 highest paying jobs by state. Top-paying jobs in other states include pediatricians, internists, OBGYN doctors, podiatrists, general physicians and dentists—all in the medical field.
